Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran could be the subject of an offer of more than €80 million from manager Mikel Arteta, who is looking to snatch him from his Premier League rivals.
Gunners forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus failed to make an impact in Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday, a surprising result which ended the club’s unbeaten run and began his chances of winning the title. Both players also came up short against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening.
Arsenal could have their second most expensive signing
According to AS, Arsenal are considering signing a new number 9, with Duran the ideal candidate due to his impressive form, which has seen him score 7 goals in just 12 appearances.
The 20-year-old recently signed a new contract with Villa until June 2030, but he is not really one of Unai Emery’s first choices, who preferred to use him as a substitute rather than a starting striker.
Daily AS claims Villa will accept “no less than” 80 million euros for the Colombian striker, which would make Duran the second most expensive player in Arsenal’s history, behind the 115 million euros spent on snatch Declan Rice from West Ham United in 2023.
