Joey Barton is never shy of controversy. The former midfielder who played for Olympique de Marseille was once again noticed for the wrong reasons on X following a series of homophobic publications. Obviously very annoyed by the expulsion of William Saliba against Bournemouth, the Englishman published three tweets which caused controversy in England.

The first tweet read: “Football is a game for gay people. As evidenced by the decision in the Bournemouth v Arsenal match. Never an expulsion“. The following, “Gays have taken over football. It’s a game for men“. And the third: “Football is gay!» Posts, accompanied by rainbow emojis, which he has also decided to keep on his X account.
