At 39 years and 40 days old, Luka Modric made Real Madrid history by becoming the oldest player to play an official match in the Merengue jersey. During the 2-1 victory against Celta Vigo on Saturday evening, the Croatian broke the record held since 1966 by Ferenc Puskas.

The former Hungarian striker played his last match for Casa Blanca at 39 years and 37 days old. Despite his age, Luka Modric continues to impress, as evidenced by his assist for Vinicius Jr’s winning goal.

Entering the game in the 63rd minute when the score was 1-1, the Madrid n°10 wasted no time in making the difference. Three minutes after his entry, he delivered a magnificent pass for the Brazilian, which allowed Real to regain the advantage.

Thanks to this moment of genius, Carlo Ancelotti’s players secured a valuable victory, before important matches against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and the Clasico against FC Barcelona.
