The future of Julien Stéphan on the Stade Rennais bench is fueling debate after the Breton club’s average start to the season.

Returning to the fold during last season to replace Bruno Genesio in an emergency, Julien Stéphan is weakened by the current results of the Stade Rennais. The Breton club took a 180-degree turn last summer, recording the departures of numerous senior players while changing its organizational chart.

While Florian Maurice has left, Rennes also has a new strong man at the helm of the club since Arnaud Pouille took on the role of president in place of Olivier Cloarec just before the start of this international break. A period during which the former leader of RC Lens took stock of Stéphan’s future.

Pouille comments on Stéphan’s future

“He is someone who is not satisfied with the results, but who is constantly looking for solutions,” explained Arnaud Pouille. This is the 4th match after the system change and he is trying to get the most out of his squad. We must work together, all in the same direction. If he is threatened? It’s not easy to change systems during the season. »

“Now we have to plan for the medium and long term. Starting with the Brest match in eight days. Julien knows that the situation is not easy in terms of results but I can guarantee you that it is working”concluded the president of Rennes. As a reminder, Julien Stéphan is under contract with Stade Rennais until 2026.
