In ten days, Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain will cross swords at the Orange Vélodrome during the Classic. Always a special meeting between the two rival clubs. But the team coached by Luis Enrique will travel to Provence without its supporters. “On Sunday October 27, 2024 from zero hour to midnight, individual or collective travel, by any means, of any person claiming to be a supporter of Paris-Saint-Germain or behaving as such, is prohibited between the municipalities of the Île-de-France region, on the one hand, and the commune of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), on the other hand” », We can read on the official document.

L’“animosity” which has lasted for years between Marseille and Parisian supporters therefore pushed the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, to make this decision. He believes that there is “a real and serious risk of confrontation” during the match. It is also recalled that a “part of the police, deprived of rest throughout the period of the Olympic Games, had to be placed on rest, thus reducing the available resource” to ensure security around this match.
