Manchester United can bite their fingers for letting Thomas Tuchel pass. The 51-year-old technician took the reins of the English selection this Wednesday, when he was tracked by the Red Devils. Asked about his choice to join England rather than the Mancunian club, the former PSG coach did not wish to address the subject head-on. “The idea and the way Mark (Bullingham, FA chief executive) and John (McDermott, technical director of the men’s team) presented it was very exciting, confident and very direct. It was a decision made for this job and not against anyone else”the German defended himself in front of the English press.
As a reminder, Thomas Tuchel was announced to be very close to joining the Red Devils this summer, but ultimately saw his candidacy rejected to be able to give a second chance to Erik ten Hag, who still finds himself in the hot seat today after a start to the season catastrophic. The Dutchman’s men are now 14th in the Premier League and Thomas Tuchel will no longer be available if the latter were to be fired.
