Lionel Messi has chosen his successor. Elected Ballon d’Or for the eighth time in his career – absolute record – a year ago, the Inter Miami striker showed his preference for this 2024 edition. He nominated one of his compatriots and teammates in the jersey of the Argentine selection: Lautaro Martinez.
“He had a spectacular year, he scored a goal in the final, he was top scorer in the Copa America, he deserves the Ballon d’Or more than anyone. I hope Martinez wins the Ballon d’Or, he deserves it more than anyone. Despite his good season with Inter Milan, Lautaro Martinez is not a favorite this year, unlike Vinicius, Bellingham or even Rodri. As a reminder, the 2024 Ballon d’Or will be awarded during the ceremony which will take place in Paris, at the Théâtre du Châtelet, on Monday October 28.
