With Guardiola’s contract at Manchester City ending in June 2025 and caretaker Lee Carsley leaving the role soon, the FA are hoping to convince the Spaniard to take the reins of the Three Lions. The position has been vacant since the departure of Gareth Southgate, after England’s defeat in the Euro 2024 final.

The idea of ​​having the former FC Barcelona coach at the head of the English team also found fervent support in the person of Roy Keane, consultant for ITV, who declared: “Go for Pep Guardiola, aim for the best. The FA must recruit the best manager. »

If Pep Guardiola accepts, he would become the third foreign coach in history to manage England, after Sven-Göran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
