Accused of rape and attempted rape by six young women in Manchester, Benjamin Mendy was finally found not guilty on July 14, 2023. Back on the field, the former OM player now intends to take justice into his own hands and did not hesitate, in this sense, to charge the Skyblues. In an interview given to The TelegraphMendy also admitted to having gone through a very complicated period financially.

“I struggled to pay my alimony when the club stopped paying me after I was charged in 2021. I felt bad… Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez all lent me money for help me try to pay my legal fees and provide for my family”. As a reminder, the Mancunian club had refused to pay him his salary of $6 million (a little over €7.1 million) per year, for two years, while awaiting his trial.
