Former AS Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder will be tried this Tuesday in Nice for a case of sexual assault while drunk. Already without a club since the end of his contract with Monaco this summer, Ben Yedder is now accumulating legal problems.
During a drunken evening on September 6, he allegedly tried to kiss a young woman in her twenties and masturbated in front of her in his car. Shocked, the victim immediately filed a complaint, leading to his arrest in Cap-d’Ail, near Monaco.
Strict judicial control before the trial
Ben Yedder’s lawyers have confirmed that the player “will take responsibility for his actions” before the court. They also mentioned his alcoholism problem, ensuring that their client is “sincerely sorry for the complainant”.
While awaiting trial, Ben Yedder is subject to strict judicial control: a ban on going out at night, an obligation to report to the gendarmerie twice a week, and compulsory treatment for his alcohol addiction.
Already under judicial supervision for another rape case dating from the summer of 2023, the former French international is also expected in December for a hearing concerning alleged psychological violence against his ex-wife.
