This is what we call a chaotic adventure. This summer, after several weeks of negotiations, Olympique de Marseille managed to enlist the young talent Valentin Carboni. The Argentine attacking midfielder was on loan from Inter. OM paid 1 million to recover it with a purchase option set at 36 million euros. If the French club decided at the end of the season to keep him, Inter Milan kept a buyout clause of 40 million euros allowing him to be recovered in the event of good performance.

Considered one of the great talents of Argentine football, described by Lionel Messi as a “different player representing the present and the future”Valentin Carboni was expected. But his start to the Marseille adventure turned sour. Hindered at the start of preparation by a muscle injury, he missed OM’s first matches and had brief bouts of matches before being overshadowed by the good start to the season of his competitor Amine Harit. Despite the Moroccan’s poor performance, Valentin Carboni didn’t really know how to seize his chance. And the worst has happened in recent days. Meeting with Argentina, the 19-year-old midfielder had to leave his partners after an injury in training. And the local press seemed very alarmist.

Rehabilitation in Milan from January

Very quickly, OM confirmed the bad news: “Valentín Carboni suffers from a cruciate ligament sprain in his left knee. The player will soon undergo surgery and follow a suitable care protocol. Olympique de Marseille wishes Valentín a speedy recovery and hopes to see him on the pitch as quickly as possible.. Obviously, its duration of unavailability is counted in months since we are talking about the end of the season. This will also completely shake up his future, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport. The Italian media explains that OM and Inter are currently discussing the possibility of simply breaking the Argentinian’s loan.

Inter, who still have the player, will have to discuss with OM to decide what happens next. The pink paper newspaper thus explains that the possibility of seeing Inter recover the player this winter, to allow him to undergo his post-intervention rehabilitation in Milan, exists. This would allow the interist club to control his rehabilitation and keep an eye on his progress. It remains to be seen whether this will succeed. Everything will probably depend on the Italian club in this matter since OM will not be able, in any case, to count on them this season. But the discussions seem to have started well.
