It has been in the air for several days, it is now official: Txiki Begiristain will no longer be Manchester City’s director of football at the end of the season. After twelve years of great success on the bench of the Skyblues, the Spanish leader has decided to leave this position which requires great commitment on a daily basis. In a press release published this Saturday, the Mancunian club even revealed the name of Txiki Begiristian’s replacement:

“Manchester City can confirm that Txiki Begiristain will leave his full-time role as Director of Football at the end of the 2024/25 season. After twelve trophy-laden years at the Etihad Stadium, Txiki will leave his current position following the club’s participation in this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup and will be replaced by Sporting CP’s Hugo Viana. Viana will begin her role full-time in summer 2025, but will collaborate with Txiki in the preceding months to ensure a smooth transition. We look forward to paying tribute to Txiki’s outstanding contribution to Manchester City at the end of the season.”
