Former England manager Gareth Southgate has announced that he will not return to coaching for at least a year. After eight years at the head of the Three Lions, marked by two continental finals, including the defeat at Euro 2024 against Spain, Southgate decided to take some time for himself. During the general assembly of the European Club Association in Athens, he said he wanted “let your body and mind recover” before embarking on a new project.
A return to the club considered
Although away from football for the moment, Southgate does not intend to stay away from the field permanently. The former Middlesbrough manager has expressed his desire to return to the club world in the future, having taken a step back to make the right choice. His name has recently been linked with Manchester United, but for now he prefers to enjoy his new life and take his time.
