Between Milan Skriniar and Paris Saint-Germain, it is first of all the story of a missed meeting. In search of a central defender in the summer of 2022, the residents of the Parc des Princes had negotiated for a long time with Inter. Despite the numerous discussions with Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, who had taken charge of the matter, the Lombards remained solid in their support. The defender did not join the French capital and played his last season with the Nerazzurri. A year later, he joined the French champions on a free, ready to make him the perfect complement to Marquinhos. Except that his first season in the capital was not really a great success.
Appearing 32 times in all competitions, including 24 times as a starter, he scored one goal. In addition to his irregular performances, he spent a lot of time in the infirmary, he who did not seem to convince Luis Enrique and PSG. A club which therefore sought to push him out this summer of 2024. But Skriniar refused to pack up, despite the arrival of Pacho. Indeed, he was determined to regain the favor of the staff and the Ile-de-France club. But for the moment, he has mainly taken his place on the bench. Since the start of the 2024-25 season, he has participated in two matches, but he has only started once.
Skriniar lets go of his truths

I have to be ready when needed. I try to be in the best possible shape (…) No, the coach does not discuss this kind of thing. I would be happy if I had more opportunities. I respect his decisions, he is the one who decides the composition of the team. I can’t influence him.”
Then, he talked about his particular summer transfer window. “There were many options. They informed me that I will not be used as much as last season. It was at the end of the transfer window, so it was mainly for loans. But I was not in the final phase of negotiations with clubs. Finally, in a meeting with the club management and the coach, we agreed that it was better for me to stay and fight for my chance (…) I am happy to be in Paris, but I regret not having more minutes, he conceded. I see in training that I can compete with my teammates in terms of quality. We have a great group and I encourage them. I had my chance, I took it, as the coach said (…) I have been in this situation before and I have always come out of it successfully. I think that will still be the case today.” The message got through…
