Called up for the French team three times without playing a single minute, Aymeric Laporte is now flourishing with Spain. And according to him, the exchanges he had with Didier Deschamps had a lot to do with this career choice.

If the Blues stalled in the semi-finals during the last Euro, two French people nevertheless became European Champions this summer. Aymeric Laporte and Robin Le Normand, who were also associated in the central hinge in the final against England, have in fact given up on the France team to play with La Roja. And the discussions he was able to have with the former world champion did not encourage optimism.

“I couldn’t wait any longer than that,
he adds. The years passed and, in the end, it was always the same coach. If I wanted to play international competitions, I had to make decisions. And I had to make this choice. Today I am very happy and I feel very good in this Spain team. It suits me, also in terms of personality. »
