Like Kylian Mbappé, Ismail Jakobs played 90 minutes with his club when he was supposed to be injured for the international gathering. Senegal quickly reacted by recalling the former Monegasque.

A former Monaco player who is announced injured for the international break and who still plays with his club? No, we are not talking about Kylian Mbappé, but about Ismail Jakobs.

The Senegalese international had withdrawn from the next two meetings of the Lions of Téranga, due to an injury justified by his club Galatasaray with MRIs. But on Sunday, the left back played 90 minutes with the Turkish club, against Alanyaspor. Which made the FSF jump.

Senegal bends Galatasaray

“Faced with this situation, the Senegalese Football Federation immediately requested the release of the player so that he can honor his call-up to the national team. The player Jakobs who was not involved in this situation left Istanbul yesterday and therefore already returned to the lair this Monday morning”indicated the FSF in a press release.

The Senegalese federation is within its rights. During international windows, Fifa requires clubs to release their players when they are called up for selection. The FFF therefore had plenty of time to force Real Madrid to let Kylian Mbappé join the France team. But Didier Deschamps preferred to give his captain some rest, a decision which raises a number of questions.
