Arsenal are reportedly considering a change to their security protocols in a bid to avoid a repeat of Conor McGregor’s ‘bizarre’ actions.

UFC legend Conor McGregor had a friendly clash with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice following the Londoners’ 2-0 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. After videos of the incidents went viral, The Times claims the Gunners began an internal investigation into how McGregor took to the pitch and vowed to avoid a similar episode in the future.

Arsenal very worried

The report thus indicates that the mixed martial artist went onto the field without the club’s permission, despite having been invited to return inside the stadium. The north London team reportedly discovered the 36-year-old and his entourage had received VIP tickets through a third party called 1 Access. The part where McGregor fights with Saka was “very worrying” for Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.

The report adds that Arsenal are reviewing the agreement which states players can mingle with corporate guests after matches. Gunners bosses are also said to be keen to distance themselves from the McGregor ‘brand’, given the Irish fighter was convicted of assault in 2019 – among other incidents.
