The former footballer was particularly virulent against the Parisian coach after his team’s defeat against Arsenal.

PSG fell on Arsenal’s pitch on Tuesday evening in the Champions League (0-2). A defeat which cannot be disputed, as the French champions were so irrelevant during this game. As coach of the team, Luis Enrique is the first to be singled out for this unfortunate mishap.

The Asturian technician was trashed in the French media. Daniel Riolo notably took it down during the After Foot show. But he is not the only one. Former players, who became consultants, also criticized his way of working. Christophe Dugarry was the first to fire bullets in his direction and was followed by Sidney Govou.

Govou highlights Luis Enrique’s lack of humility

Among the most notable attacks of the evening against the Spaniard, there was that of the former Lyon player. Speaking on Canal+ where he commented on the match, the seven-time French champion said he was disillusioned by the “lack of humility” of the Parisian coach.

“I simply think that it is a club, managers and a coach who lack humility. In football, you have to show humility, he blurted out in a furious tone. Thinking that you can play in a way is one thing. Not being able to achieve it is another. When I hear that he is there to build a team… No, when you come to PSG, you come to win. You must have a real awareness of what you are. PSG has not progressed for years because this observation has not been realized.”

If he doesn’t pay too much attention to journalists when they point out his faults, Luis Enrique will perhaps be challenged by the common-sense remark of this former footballer.
