Arriving at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019, Pablo Sarabia (32) thought he was taking a step forward in his career. But the Spaniard was never really able to shake off his substitute status in the French capital. After three and a half years spent in France, the winger, who made a detour to Lisbon and Sporting CP in 2021-22, joined England in January 2023. It was in Wolverhampton that he therefore packed his bags, determined to become a potential starter. And quickly, the player purchased for €5 million was able to gain playing time.

Last year, he became one of the important elements of the Wolves since he scored 4 goals and provided 7 assists during 30 Premier League matches. But this season, his status has changed a lot. Indeed, Sarabia participated in 4 matches in all competitions. In the league, he only appeared twice. Indeed, he played 6 minutes against Arsenal on August 17 during the first day (2-0 defeat). Then, he came on for 22 minutes during the clash against Chelsea on August 25 (6-2 defeat).

He hasn’t played in the Premier League for over a month

Since then, he has sat on the bench for the next 4 matches, against Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool. A difficult situation to experience for the former PSG player, now downgraded. Despite everything, he had a few minutes to express himself in the Carabao Cup since he played 62 minutes against Burnley and 63 minutes against Brighton. In total, Pablo Sarabia spent 153 minutes on the pitch this season between the various competitions. He failed to be decisive since he neither scored nor provided an assist. Gary O’Neil therefore regularly does without his services although Wolverhampton are dead last in the Premier League.

But in Spain, where Sarabia comes from, we do not understand how the player fell from grace. Ditto for Salim Baungally, journalist specializing in English football. “I admit I don’t understand his situation, especially since he is not injured and he is on the bench. He played very little, whereas last year he seemed to become a player who could count for the coach. There, it’s true that he no longer plays.” Restricted to a substitute role, the Spanish international is not very happy with his situation. At the end of his contract in June 2025, he has a good chance of leaving in January. At home, Sevilla, his former club, and Villarreal are monitoring his case according to Marca.
