Traveling this Tuesday to London to face Arsenal, as part of the second day of the Champions League (9 p.m.), Paris Saint-Germain will do without the services of Ousmane Dembélé. The French international was in fact dismissed by his coach for this meeting, the latter not having appreciated an intervention by his player during the video debriefing after the match won against Rennes this weekend in Ligue 1. A misunderstood decision through part of the locker room.
This is the little indiscretion that Loïc Tanzi reported on Monday. The journalist of The Team recounted the atmosphere around this famous decision, first recalling the facts.
“There was a discussion after the match against Rennes (…), and basically, Ousmane Dembélé responded to Luis Enrique by telling him that he did not necessarily agree with what he said in debriefing , notably on a pass to Hakimi that he would not have given during this match. So he responded a little to his coach who didn’t like the answer at all. He felt he didn’t have to make a response like that in front of the group. There is a bit of rigidity on the part of the Spanish coach. »
A mistake by Luis Enrique?
Then the observer continued by evoking the famous point of view of the other PSG players regarding this clear decision to leave Ousmane Dembélé in Paris for this C1 match.
“It’s a decision that was not necessarily understood by his teammates and by the whole group. A somewhat difficult decision, according to some PSG players. Today we are faced with a situation where the PSG players do not really understand and a Luis Enrique who, casually, may have made a mistake with the PSG locker room (…). »
Another sports media journalist, Giovanni Castaldi added: “Luis Enrique is very vehement about certain returns and he sometimes goes a little too far. He is a demanding coach, but I think he needs to be careful. And the sidelining of Ousmane Dembélé appears a bit like an injustice to certain players, because everyone knows his waste (…), but on the other hand he is an essential player. »
It remains to know the end of the story regarding this sidelining which, for the moment and for some, seems a little excessive.
