Former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta is set to announce his retirement.
Iniesta chose to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2018 to join Japan and Japanese club Vissel Kobe. He spent six years in the Land of the Rising Sun before taking charge of the United Arab Emirates in the summer of 2023. In the Gulf, however, he only stayed one season and is now a free agent.
Iniesta says stop!
The Iberian media Relevo claims today that the hero of the 2010 World Cup final has decided to end his career and that he will confirm it on October 8. The 40-year-old chose this date to honor his number 8 jersey.
Iniesta will forever be remembered as one of the greatest footballers in the history of his generation. Winner of three major titles with La Roja, he was very close to winning the Ballon d’Or in 2010. He then finished on the podium behind Lionel Messi and Xavi, his Blaugrana teammates.
