Antoine Griezmann is officially no longer a French international. After ten years of good and loyal service, the Mâconnais chose to retire and devote himself to his club Atlético. An extreme decision but perhaps not irreversible. Some are even convinced that he will very soon reverse his choice.
Raymond Domenech, former national coach, clearly sees Grizou “doing a Zidane” by reuniting with his national team a few months before the World Cup. “We must not despair for Griezmann. For the moment, he has made this decision. We’ll see in 3 or 4 months,” he said on the L’Équipe channel.
Domenech “disturbed” by Griezmann
The one who coached the Blues then indicated that he was not really surprised by Griezmann’s choice to bow out.
“That doesn’t surprise me. Because we felt a disenchantment between him and Deschamps. Which is as much due to Griezmann’s performances as to the place Didier gave him. He needs to be loved and be the center of the project to be able to give the best of himself.”
On the other hand, Domenech affirmed that he did not approve of Griezmann’s choice. Because, according to him, we do not turn our backs on the French team. “I find it distressing. Because when we still have the potential, abandoning the French team – and it’s not called anything else – bothers me.”
