Fabrizio Romano expects ‘developments’ regarding Victor Osimhen’s possible move to Chelsea once the January transfer window approaches.

The Blues missed the opportunity to sign the Nigerian this summer despite a spectacular transfer attempt at Deadline Day. Chelsea were unwilling to meet Osimhen’s high salary demands, so no transfer materialized.

Instead, the striker, who desperately wanted to leave Napoli, had to agree to a loan move to Galatasaray as a last resort, with the Turkish side agreeing to cover the majority of his salary and granting him a break clause that would allow him to leave the club in January.

Osimhen has scored two goals and provided four assists in four games so far for the Istanbul giants and speculation around his future persists. Chelsea, it was claimed on Saturday, were already working on a beneficial deal for the winter transfer window, which has now prompted a response from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Osimhen, everything is calm

Speaking to CaughtOffside, Romano denied suggestions that concrete negotiations were already underway, although he reiterated that Chelsea’s interest persisted. “II’m aware that there continue to be plenty of stories about Victor Osimhen’s future after a crazy summer that saw him make a surprise move to Galatasaray despite strong interest from Chelsea and other clubs.

“I was asked about rumors that Osimhen could be moved for just £40m in January, with Chelsea working on the deal behind the scenes. However, I can honestly say that nothing is currently happening regarding Osimhen.

“I have said several times recently that Chelsea’s interest remains and they still like the player, but there are no negotiations going on and it would be disrespectful to Galatasaray as they paid a significant amount for get Osimhen on loan. So everything is calm for now, and once we get closer to January we will see the developments. »
