Member of the 87 generation, Jérémy Ménez announced on Friday that he was ending his career as a professional footballer.

A page officially turned on Friday for Jérémy Ménez. Without a club since the end of his adventure with Bari last March, the man, now aged thirty-seven, has confirmed that he is putting a definitive end to his long career as a professional footballer. Twenty years after signing his first contract with FC Sochaux, Jérémy Ménez is now looking to the future, without yet knowing exactly what it will bring.

It’s on the channel YouTube “The Zone”that the former Paris Saint-Germain player confirmed his decision. “It’s definitely over. I didn’t tell anyone. Now we will look to the future, see what needs to be done. » And Jérémy Ménez confides that he would like to see himself playing a role in football, without really knowing which one yet. “Still in football, why not with young people or in a staff. I’m going to graduate next year. »

“I was reaching a bit of saturation”

The one who also wore the colors of AC Milan and AS Roma also explained the reasons for his choice. “At one point, I was reaching a bit of saturation. I had been around, I traveled a lot, I visited a lot of clubs, a lot of countries. I have my children here. So I didn’t really want to continue playing anymore. And playing without really wanting to is not respectful of a club, so I preferred to stop. »

The choice is therefore made for a Jérémy Ménez who will have been crowned European champion with the U17s of the French team in 2004, who will also have been French Ligue 1 champion twice with PSG (2013, 2014) or even champion of Mexico in 2018 with Club America.
