UEFA index: this is confirmed for France

Thanks in particular to the victory of Olympique Lyonnais against Olympiakos, France keeps its distance from the Netherlands in the race for fifth place.

A week after the three great victories won by PSG, Monaco and Brest in the Champions League, thus making us forget the slap received by Lille at the opening, Lyon and Nice in the Europa League continued the great debut of the French clubs on the scene European.

On Wednesday, OGC Nice could certainly harbor regrets after its draw against Real Sociedad (1-1), but on Thursday, Olympique Lyonnais won 2-0 against Olympiakos (2-0), allowing France to consolidate its fifth place in the UEFA Index.

With now 56.665 points, France maintains a good advantage over the Netherlands, sixth with 53.400 points. After the fiasco of the Dutch big names in the Champions League, the Batavian teams involved in the Europa League nevertheless raised the bar with the successes of Ajax Amsterdam (4-0 against Besiktas) and AZ Alkmaar (3-2 against Elfsborg Boras) as well as the draw for Twente (1-1 at Manchester United).

As a reminder, 5th place offers three direct places for the league phase of the Champions League and an additional ticket for the third qualifying round of this C1.
