The disciplinary body was heavy-handed with regard to Brest coach Eric Roy, who was sent off during the L1 match against Toulouse on Sunday and received a ” three matches of firm suspension from the bench, referees’ locker room and all official functions ” for his criticism of the refereeing body.
It should be noted that the Commission, contacted by the National Ethics Council (CNE) regarding the comments made by OM sports advisor Medhi Benatia during the Sunday clash between Lyon and Marseille, will study this latest case next week.
In the meantime, the object of the Marseille manager’s wrath – Leonardo Balerdi, wrongly sent off by Mr Bastien during this match – has received a “one-match suspension” from the League. OM, as with Derek Cornelius a week earlier, had nevertheless requested the cancellation of the Argentinian defender’s second warning in view of the contentious action observed between the latter and Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. The new captain of the Olympians will therefore miss the closing match of the 6th day of L1 in Strasbourg this Sunday.
