Two former OM coaches have shared their views on the direction the club’s season is taking.

OM managed the feat of beating OL on Sunday evening (3-2), playing ten against eleven for almost the entire match. A founding success that allows the Marseille team to rise to the top of the standings, along with Monaco and PSG.

For the Olympian supporters, it didn’t take much more to start getting excited and believe in a first national consecration since 2010. Roberto De Zerbi, for his part, remained rather measured, assuring that the goal was to finish in the top three but that he plays each match to win it.

“Something is happening at OM”

But can Marseille legitimately aim for first place after this great start? The question was asked in particular to Rolland Courbis, the team’s former coach (1997-99). “If you didn’t believe it this year, with a calendar that has nothing to do with that of PSG or Monaco… It’s the dream year to be champions,” he confided on the L’Equipe channel. He then made one of his signature jokes: “OM’s objective is quite logical: to finish on the podium. And not necessarily in third place.e or to the 2e place “.

In addition to Courbis, Elie Baup, who was in charge of the team between 2012 and 2013, also judged this Marseille team. He wants to be more cautious, but does not rule out believing in it.
“It’s obvious that something is happening. A lot of enthusiasm and a lot of uncontrolled projections. It’s happening fast. At the time, with six wins in a row, we were already playing for the title. Luckily we finished second. You always have to be under control. But it’s difficult in Marseille. But on the other hand, you have to experience it. It’s exceptional. And it’s a great sharing of emotions.”
