Olympique Lyonnais announced on Monday the death of one of its former players, Thadée Polak, at the age of 92.

Olympique Lyonnais mourns one of its own. The Rhone club announced on Monday the death of Thadée Polak at the age of 92. This former defender notably won the 1964 Coupe de France with the Gones. The same year, he lost the semi-final of the Cup Winners’ Cup against Sporting Lisbon (0-0, 1-1, 0-1).

Of Polish origin, the native of Montceau-les-Mines also played for RC Lens (1952-1956), Le Havre (1957-1958) and Sedan (1958-1962), before joining OL. In the capital of the Gauls, Thadée Polak played 195 matches (3 goals) between 1962 and 1967.

Polak also shone in tennis

After hanging up his crampons, Thadée Polak stayed in the Lyon region and began a successful tennis career! In fact, he won twenty-two Lyon champion titles and four French champion titles in the veterans category.
