AC Milan won the derby at Inter (1-2) thanks to a late goal from Gabbia. That will do Paulo Fonseca some good.

This could be the start of something for Paulo Fonseca. Highly contested at the start of the season, the Portuguese coach won his first Madonnina derby by beating Inter Milan (1-2).

AC Milan had secured their first win of the season a week ago against Venezia (4-0), before showing some limitations in the Champions League against Liverpool (1-3). This time, the Rossoneri showed quality and heart to win this match against their neighbor and rival.

After the in-form Cristian Pulisic opened the scoring (10th), Inter responded through Federico Dimarco (28th). But AC Milan, far from being satisfied with a draw, were rewarded for their efforts (14 shots to 5 in the second half) by snatching victory at the very end of the match through Matteo Gabbia (89th).

In the standings, AC Milan are level with Inter with 8 points on the clock. It was far from being a done deal when Fonseca and his men were five points behind after three games.
