With their failed start to the season far behind them, Athletic Bilbao wanted to continue their momentum against Celta Vigo for the 6th day of La Liga. Put into orbit by Guruzeta (1-0, 4th), the Basque club conceded the equalizer before the half-hour mark. On a penalty, the inevitable Iago Aspas reset the score to zero (1-1, 25th). A short-lived joy for the Galicians, surprised by a new goal from Guruzeta on the edge of the break (2-1, 39th) while Aspas had seen a goal disallowed a few minutes earlier for an offside position (37th).

Eager to deal a fatal blow to the visitors’ hopes, Athletic stepped on the accelerator for a third time and Alvara Djalo, on a service from Iñaki Williams, secured the victory for his team. With this second consecutive success, Bilbao is back in the standings and provisionally climbs to the third step of the podium (with a game in hand). At the same time, Celta Vigo falls back to 8th position.
