Victorious on the Southampton pitch (0-3) last weekend and in the League Cup against Barnsley (7-0), Manchester United travelled to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace. For this match of the 5th day of the Premier League, Erik ten Hag decided to align Christian Eriksen alongside Kobbie Mainoo in the midfield while Amad Diallo, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho animated the Mancunian attack. Manuel Ugarte and Marcus Rashford started on the bench, as did Mason Mount and Rasmus Holjund, back from injury. Opposite, Oliver Glasner associated Jean-Philippe Mateta with Eddie Nketiah and Eberechi Eze to try to secure a first success this season in the championship.

In a first half dominated by the Red DevilsPalace had to rely on their goalkeeper Dean Henderson to stop the attempts of Garnacho (10th), De Ligt (13th), Zirkzee (42nd) and thank their posts (27th). The first shot on target from the Eaglesmeanwhile, came at the end of the first half, with Eze (45th) who did not worry André Onana that much. In the second half, it was Bruno Fernandes’ turn to stand out with a good one-two with Zirkzee. However, the Portuguese’s shot went just wide of Henderson’s right post (53rd). The former Manchester United goalkeeper then flew to push back another attempt by Garnacho (62nd). For its part, Palace came up against Onana twice, with Nketiah’s shot and Sarr’s recovery (66th), who came on in place of Mateta, after the break. The former Marseille player then delivered a caviar for Eze, whose shot missed the target (73rd). Score 0-0 between Crystal Palace and Manchester United. A result that leaves the London club in 16th place, while Man Utd stagnates in 11th place.
