OGC Nice inflicted a terrible correction on AS Saint-Etienne: six goals in the first half, and a stinging 8-0 in the end.

The victory against Lille is already forgotten… After its very difficult start to the season (three defeats without scoring a goal in the first three days), AS Saint-Etienne hit rock bottom this Friday evening in Nice (8-0), at the start of the 5th day of Ligue 1.

The Greens started the match in reverse, with an own goal from Dylan Batubinsika (4th) and a goal from Tanguy Ndombele (7th) in the wake. Mohamed-Ali Cho put the nail in the coffin with a nice strike (24th), then Youssoufa Moukoko scored his first goal in Ligue 1 by taking advantage of a good rush from Evann Guessand (26th).

Nice finally launched?

Olivier Dall’Oglio had nevertheless brought back the same eleven as against Losc (1-0) seven days earlier, and his early coaching (three changes in the 35th minute) did not bear fruit since the Gym scored two more goals in the process. Guessand ridiculed the Forez defense, with in particular a small bridge on poor Yunis Abdelhamid, also in distress (36th). And Moukoko then went for his double (38th), for this 6-0 at half-time: something never seen before in the 21st century in Ligue 1!

In the second half, Franck Haise took advantage of the opportunity to revive some players, and Sofiane Diop, injured since January, also scored (75th). And the Saint-Etienne ordeal continued with a penalty converted by Pablo Rosario (86th). With three points in five matches, only one goal scored and 15 conceded, the start of the season for the Greens is taking a worrying turn. On the other hand, this big win allows Nice to look upwards. An ideal preparation before launching its European campaign against Real Sociedad next Thursday.
