Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland has had a thunderous start to the season. In the first four Premier League games, he has found the back of the net 9 times. However, from the Sky Blues’ first tough match, Wednesday against Inter (0-0), he was invisible.
Against the Lombards, the Norwegian was perfectly hit by Francesco Acerbi. And at the end of the game, he was confronted with external spikes. One of the most violent came from the former Chelsea player, John Obi Mikel.
“Haaland has improved but…”
The Nigerian, known for his outspokenness in the media, told DAZN: “So far, we haven’t seen him (in the big games). We agree on that. He has scored goals, a lot of goals, but in the big games? I want to see him shine on Sunday against Arsenal.”
For Obi Mikel, Haaland will never be of the same calibre as Messi or CR7 if he is neutral during the important meetings: “ I want to see him show up in the big games and be the main character. Score one or two goals, get a hat-trick, whatever. This season, I think his overall game has improved a lot compared to last season. On Sunday, and in the big games, I want to see him show up, like (Lionel) Messi did.”
