What a night for French clubs this Thursday evening as part of the first day of the Champions League. For its first in C1, Stade Brestois managed to win and take the 3 points against Sturm Graz with a score of 2 goals to 1.

A deserved victory for Eric Roy’s men who showed great things on a collective and individual level. Hugo Magnetti and Abdallah Sima found the back of the goal and allowed SB29 to make history at the club.

On the other side, AS Monaco knew how to seize its chance to create a surprise against FC Barcelona. The Monegasques tamed the Catalan club with a score of 2 goals to 1 at the Stade Louis II. Maghnes Akliouche and George IIenikhena put their names on the scoreboard. The Monegasque club is still undefeated at the start of the season.

Historic Stade Brestois!

Brest have done it! Victorious against Sturm Graz, SB29 recorded their first Champions League success in front of their home crowd at the Stade du Roudourou in Guingamp. Incisive and enterprising, Eric Roy’s players showed that they had the level to do well in the most beautiful club competition.

It was midfielder Hugo Magnetti who sparked hostilities in the first half with a right-footed volley from the edge of the area (1-0, 23rd). Unfortunately Edimilson Fernandes brought the two teams back to level by scoring his own goal (1-1, 45th+1).

After the break, the Bretons once again showed great intentions to make the difference. And thanks to Abdallah Sima, SB29 took the 3 points (2-1, 56th).

AS Monaco still dominates Barça

AS Monaco strikes a big blow in this first day of the Champions League. The club from the Principality took the upper hand against Barça for the second time in a row. Ahead on the scoreboard from the start of the game thanks to a goal from Maghnes Akliouche (1-0, 16th).

A few minutes later, Lamine Yamal equalized with a fine goal. After being beaten by the Catalans, ASM would ultimately have the last word at the end of the match. Georges Ilnikhena gave his team the victory (2-1, 71st).
