Facing Girona on the first day of the Champions League, PSG suffered before pocketing the three points on a blunder by Paulo Gazzaniga, goalkeeper of the Spanish team. An evening where the capital club was however guilty of a certain lack of realism. Not for lack of trying… According to Opta, Luis Enrique’s men have, in fact, become the second team to attempt at least 20 shots during a second half of the Champions League (20 this Wednesday evening) over the last five seasons.
Note that the last team to have reached such a total over this period is none other than… PSG, on May 7 against Borussia Dortmund in the semi-final return leg (22 shots in the second half, 1-0 defeat). As a reminder, the French champions only hit the target five times out of the 26 attempts that evening. Enough, despite everything, to break the opposing lock and start in the best possible way…
