AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca believes Milan must produce a perfect performance if they are to beat Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Milan welcome the Reds to the San Siro for their first Champions League group game. They do so despite not being at their best in the league, having won just one of their first four games. Their manager is aware of this and that is why he has made a point of warning them.
Fonseca wary of Liverpool
“It’s a great team, one of the strongest in Europe at the moment, he indicated. They have a very strong positional game and an individuality that we all know. We will have to be a perfect team defensively to win. In the Champions League, against this type of team, we have no right to make a mistake: if we make a mistake, they score. We will have to be a complete team in defense to then be able to attack with stability. At the moment, I think they are one of the strongest teams in Europe.
Fonseca still congratulated his men for the great reaction they had last weekend: “I think victories always bring confidence to the players and the fans. It will be a different match. It is important to have won against Venezia, I think we were growing even before Saturday, but victories above all bring confidence to the players.”
The former Lille coach is also counting on the supporters to bring the extra soul that the team needs:
“The support of our fans is always important to us, as it was on Saturday (against Venezia) when we arrived at the stadium, during and after the match. The support of our fans is fundamental for us. We need to feel the love of our fans.”
