Juventus and Aston Villa are the provisional leaders of the Champions League after their victories against PSV Eindhoven and Young Boys Bern.

Invited to open the ball for this new edition, Juventus struck hard by clearly dominating PSV Eindhoven (3-1) in the context of the first day of the Champions League.

After Kenan Yildiz’s superb opening goal (21st), Weston McKennie quickly doubled the lead (27th). It was new signing Nico Gonzalez who made the score heavier in the second half (52nd). At the end of the match, Ismael Saibari saved the Dutch side’s honour (90th+3), for what was the very first goal conceded by Thiago Motta’s Juve this season.

At the same time, Aston Villa spared no expense in winning away to Young Boys Bern (0-3), with goals from Youri Tielemans (27th), Jacob Ramsey (38th) and Amadou Onana (86th).
