Quentin Merlin, who has been injured in the thigh, will be out for several weeks. OM regrets that their player played injured with the Espoirs.

This is the hard blow of the week for Olympique de Marseille. Already absent last Saturday against Nice (2-0), Quentin Merlin will again be out this Sunday for the trip to Lyon, and is not about to return to competition.

“Returning from selection with a right thigh injury, Quentin Merlin will be out for several weeks”announced OM this Tuesday evening in a press release. The beginning of the text is important. Merlin was injured with the French U21 team against Slovenia (1-1). And despite this first alert, Gérald Baticle had him play 90 minutes against Bosnia (2-0) four days later. We can see the result, and this chain of events is making some teeth grind on the Canebière side.

This could be the second major injury of Quentin Merlin’s career. Operated on his adductors in January 2022, the left-back trained at FC Nantes had missed a little over two months of competition with the Canaries.
