Lens and Lyon back to back!

It was the shock of the weekend in Ligue 1. This Sunday evening, at the end of the 4th day, Racing Club de Lens and Olympique Lyonnais were unable to separate themselves (0-0).

For the Blood and Gold, it’s another match without defeat. Will Still’s men who are in 4th position are undefeated at the start of the season with 2 wins and 2 draws.

On the OL side, it’s a second consecutive match without defeat. The Gones wanted to follow up with a new victory but finally had to settle for a draw at the Stade Bollaert despite the many opportunities and two disallowed goals. The Rhone players are 13th before hosting Olympique de Marseille on the next matchday.

A balanced and fairly lively first act

Lensois and Lyonnais showed their ambition from the start of the match. But it was the Blood and Gold who dominated the debates overall but without being efficient in the last meters and in the last move.

However, it was Olympique Lyonnais who had clear chances with a goal disallowed for Gift Orban for offside in the 10th minute of play. Lyon captain Alexandre Lacazette also nearly scored a goal a few minutes before the break (32nd) but had to come up against a gala Brice Samba.

A tight game, Lyon can have regrets

As soon as they returned from the locker room, both teams left with the same desires. That of hurting the opponent as soon as the opportunity presented itself. As in the first half, Lyon would see another goal denied.

In the 55th minute of play, Gift Orban thought he had given his team the lead but the referee of the game once again signalled an offside. Both teams tried to break the opposing team’s deadlock but without success despite an intense second half full of goal opportunities. The two teams left on a match that did not change much in the standings.
