Winner of the Champions League last season, Real Madrid are putting their title back into play from this Tuesday. And if we refer to Opta’s “supercomputer”, a reference in terms of statistics, the Merengue are not the big favorites to succeed them.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the most likely to win the most prestigious European Cup, according to Opta, with a probability of 25.3% compared to 18.2% for Real Madrid, second in this ranking. Further behind, Inter Milan, the reigning Italian champion, completes the podium (10.9%).
PSG in the Top 10
On the French side, PSG, who inherited a complicated draw (which is taken into account in Opta’s calculation), only arrives in 9e position, with only a 4.1% chance of lifting the first C1 in its history. AS Monaco and Losc have respectively 0.5% and 0.1% probability of going all the way. For its first Champions League campaign, Brest obtains the lowest score, namely 0%.
In the Top 10, where PSG appears (9e), we also find Arsenal (4e6.3), Bayer Leverkusen (5e5.4%), FC Barcelona (6e5.2%), Liverpool (7e4.2%), Bayern Munich (8e4.1%) and Leipzig (10e2.4%). However, these are only probabilities, only the reality on the ground counts.
