A Reims player did as well as Haaland

With his double last weekend, Erling Haaland equalled a 50-year-old record that was previously held by a player from Reims.

Manchester City’s man of the hour Erling Haaland has equalled a goalscoring record that had stood for fifty years.

Haaland scored twice for City in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford. With this latest brace, the Norwegian striker has nine goals to his name after four Premier League games, a first in the history of the English championship. He has overtaken Wayne Rooney, who had eight goals after that many tricks in 2011.

Haaland is causing a stir

Among the five major championships, only Carlos Bianchi had achieved such a feat. And it was during the 1974-1975 season. The Argentinian had achieved this performance in the colors of the Stade de Reims in France.

The Scandinavian goal scorer is certainly not going to stop there. While the immediate deadline is the opposition against Inter in the Champions League, the former Dortmund player probably already has his eyes fixed on next Sunday’s clash against Arsenal in order to break other domestic records.
