Girona’s first Champions League game is next week, and it will be an incredibly difficult start for the Iberians.

Michel Sanchez’s team will travel to the French capital, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

It will be extremely difficult for Girona to get a positive result, but their chances of doing so seem to have increased – slightly, at least. As MD reported, PSG will be without Gianluigi Donnarumma for the Matchday 1 clash as he is suffering from a slight thigh injury.

PSG will be deprived of Gianluigi Donnarumma

Matvey Safonov, who joined PSG in the summer, is likely to start against Girona, in what would be his debut for the reigning Ligue 1 champions. Former Barcelona goalkeeper Arnau Tenas could feature, although he is currently behind Safonov in Luis Enrique’s pecking order.

Donnarumma’s absence is undoubtedly a boost for Girona, although even if the Italian goalkeeper played, Michel’s side would approach the game with confidence.
