Real have some catching up to do
Real Madrid may have started the season unbeaten, but their failure to win away from home leaves them four points behind FC Barcelona, who have won all of their matches.
The reigning European champions were held to 1-1 draws in both their away league games against Mallorca and Las Palmas, while they picked up points in their two home games against Real Valladolid and Real Betis.
Mbappé on a roll?
After failing to score in his first three La Liga games, Kylian Mbappé finally opened his La Liga account in the final game before the break, scoring twice as Carlo Ancelotti’s side won 2-0 against Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu. A recovery he will be looking to confirm on Basque soil.
The result extended Real Madrid’s unbeaten run to 31 matches, meaning almost a year has passed since their last La Liga defeat, in the derby against city rivals Atletico Madrid.
Ancelotti will also be asking his men to make a strong start, as they have only scored two of their seven league goals before the hour mark in their first four games.
