Mehdi Benatia wanted to recall the personal investment of Elye Wahi, who showed great determination by joining Olympique de Marseille this summer.

The season has barely started and Olympique de Marseille finds itself with only one option to occupy the tip of its attack: Elye Wahi. The cause is the long-term unavailability of Faris Moumbagna, victim of a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee against Brest (1-5).

Despite the lack of competition in his position, the former Lens player is still struggling to convince. With just one goal in three games, Wahi is struggling with the final move, which earned him a few boos from Marseille fans during his first appearance at the Vélodrome against Stade de Reims (2-2).

“He said to me, listen, I called my club, my agent and…”

In this context, Mehdi Benatia, OM’s sports advisor, was keen to defend the young striker by recalling the sacrifices he made to join the Ciel et Blanc.

“Wahi for example, he’s a player who had covetousness and when I spoke with him. He told me listen, I called my club my agent and I only want Olympique de Marseille. He’s a player who made financial efforts to come to Marseille. For me, it’s factual, we can say whoever we want, but that’s concrete so that’s something strong for me”revealed the Marseille leader to the microphone of beIN Sports.
