For this first Parisian season post-Mbappé, we would like to rush to the last page of the story, but it remains to be written. Nothing guarantees that Luis Enrique’s men will triumph on all fronts next June, far from it, but at the start of the season, the winds are rather favorable towards Paris, and it is not the Brest Pirates, who were thrown overboard this evening, who will say otherwise. On the eve of receiving Girona in the Champions League, Wednesday (9:00 p.m.), the Red and Blues continue to surf this wave of happiness, and goals. 4 against Le Havre, 6 against Montpellier, 3 at LOSC, and therefore 3 against Brest, with a 3-1 victory as the key.
As has often been the case since the start of the season, the Parisians didn’t have time for an observation round this evening either. Pace from the start, passing circuits, technical affinity, but nevertheless, they had to wait before seeing the Parc roar with a goal from their team. However, they could have extinguished Brest’s hopes in 15 minutes flat. First in the 7th minute of play, with a shot from Nuno Mendes pushed back by Bizot, then again two minutes later, with Asensio within a hair’s breadth of scoring, and again with Joao Neves, whose all too predictable shot, after a first number from Dembélé, was finally deflected by the Dutch goalkeeper.
A boss-sized Dembélé
Finally, this first long Parisian sequence preceded a first strong period from the Bretons, very accurate with the ball, and rewarded with this penalty conceded by Nuno Mendes for a foul on Ajorque. Romain Del Castillo converted it (27th), but Paris reacted quickly. Dembélé first came up against Bizot (34th), who made a heroic save a few seconds later in front of Asensio (36th). But he finally bowed to Dembélé just before the break. On a cross from Asensio, the world champion placed a header, as against Le Havre, to equalize (42nd).
After the break, Paris didn’t let up and confiscated the ball from Brest. The heated moments intensified in front of Bizot’s goal, with Dembélé unstoppable, but disgusted by the Batavian. Finally, the light came from Fabian Ruiz, well served by Hakimi at the edge of the area and author of a firecracker under the bar (73rd, 2-1). In the extension, Dembélé smelled the good move and scored a double to complete a boss-sized performance. A start to the season heralding golden tomorrows, or just a flash in the pan for Paris? The future will tell us, but in the meantime, the capital club is doing 4/4 in Ligue 1, and in style.
