The championships resumed this weekend after the international break. During the 5th day of La Liga, Villarreal traveled to the Balearic Islands to face the Mallorca club on the pitch of the Son Moix stadium. Although Marcelino’s troops largely dominated the debates, the two teams almost left with a draw. However, everything had started well for Villarreal with the opening score from the former Toulouse player, Logan Costa (27th). But in the second half, Mallorca managed to equalize thanks to an own goal from Raul Albiol (57th).
Reduced to ten men after the expulsion of Toni Lato (69th), the locals believed they had managed to hold on to the score to pocket a point but that was without counting on Ayoze Pérez who gave the victory (1-2) to the visitors in the final moments (90th + 4). In the standings, Villarreal temporarily climbs to 2nd place, while Mallorca is in the soft underbelly with 10th position. Next weekend, the Groguets will face FC Barcelona at home, while the Bermellones will host Real Sociedad, during the 6th day of the Spanish championship.
