Erling Haaland continues to march on the English championship. This Saturday, during the match between Manchester City and Brentford, the Norwegian goal scorer made his mark again. He scored two new goals, which bring his total to nine after only four days played.
9 goals in 4 matches, this is a record in the English elite. No one had ever done better. Only Wayne Rooney was relatively close to this threshold, with 8 goals. It was during the 2011/2012 campaign.
Haaland eclipses the Frenchies of the PL
With his double of the day, the Norwegian cyborg has accumulated 72 in the English elite. It is quite impressive, especially when you know that he is starting his 3e season only in the Premier League. For comparison, this total surpasses that of a certain Eric Cantona in the same championship (70 goals). And the Frenchman needed 86 more matches to establish his score.
Haaland finished as the top scorer in the previous two PL seasons. He is well on his way to making it three. The last person to do it for three years in a row was Thierry Henry between 2003 and 2006.
