Leipzig held in check by Union Berlin earlier in the day, Bayern Munich had a great chance to play on the Kiel pitch. In the event of a victory against the promoted team, the Bavarian club could take sole control of the championship lead. Without forcing, the Munich team easily accomplished its task by beating its counterpart from Schleswig-Holstein (6-1).

To see Vincent Kompany’s men perform, you had to be on time at the Holstein-Stadion. Thanks to goals from Musiala and Kane, helped along the way by the unfortunate Remberg (an own goal), the Munich team were already leading 3-0 after 13 minutes of play. While the English striker scored a hat-trick (43rd, 90th+1), becoming the league’s joint top scorer in the process, Michael Olise also joined in the fun by scoring his first Bundesliga goal in his new colours (65th). Despite Gigovic’s anecdotal score reduction (82nd), Kiel lost for the third consecutive time and remains stuck in last place in the standings.
