BL: Bayer snatches victory in season opener

The day after Borussia Dortmund’s victory over Heidenheim, five other matches counting for the 3rd day of the Bundesliga were to follow this Saturday. Beaten before the break by Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen resumed its march forward on the Hoffenheim pitch. Put into orbit by Terrier, imitated by Boniface, the reigning German champion quickly took the lead before Wirtz and the Nigerian, author of a double, hammered the nail in the second half, despite the reduction of the gap in the first half signed by Berisha (1-4). A convincing success which allows the Pillendreher to catch up with the leader, but above all to come back to one point of Leipzig. In the other matches of the day, VfB Stuttgart secured their first league win of the season by beating Borussia Mönchengladbach thanks to a double from their summer signing, Demirovic, and a goal from Undav (1-3). An encouraging performance for the German vice-champion before going to challenge Real Madrid on Tuesday in the Champions League. After falling to Bayern Munich two weeks ago, Freiburg got back on the winning track by beating Bochum by a narrow header. Despite the opening goal from former Monaco player Boadu, the Ruhr club cracked around the last quarter of an hour following Adamu’s double and is now more stagnant than ever in last place in the Bundesliga (2-1). Finally, Hugo Ekitike’s Eintracht Frankfurt moved closer to the top 5 by dominating Wolfsburg (1-2).
