A new Neymar at PSG?

After seeing Neymar pass through its ranks between 2017 and 2023, could PSG have a player with similar qualities? Some think so.

Paris Saint-Germain have started their season well by stringing together three wins in as many league days. During the last two games, Luis Enrique took the opportunity to give some playing time to a summer recruit. Arriving from Stade Rennais, Désiré Doué is currently a substitute in Paris, but his potential has led some to say that he has great days ahead of him, especially since several of his qualities are similar to those of a certain Neymar.

At least that’s the (daring) opinion that Karim Bennani tried on Friday. The journalist from the channel The Team explained his point of view, first rejoicing that Désiré Doué preferred to go through PSG before giving in to the sirens of Bayern Munich who coveted him. It’s a good thing, I think, to do the Paris stage. It’s the same with Bayern, but it’s good to stay in France because he hasn’t reached his maximum maturity today. Thierry Henry didn’t put him in the starting line-up during the Games (2024). He came on a few times, but he wasn’t a starter for the French Olympic team. »

“Not Neymar, but…”

However, the observer noted some common points with Neymar. He still has some shortcomings, but I love this kind of player because, in his style of play, all things considered, there is a bit of Neymar in him. In the way he takes the ball, in his hooks. I’m not saying he’s Neymar, but he’s a ‘thrill’ player. And there aren’t that many of them in Ligue 1. So it’s important to keep them in our championship, it’s important that he’s in the team that’s the locomotive and I think it’s a good year of learning for him. He can’t be a starter at PSG straight away, but frankly, we’re going to enjoy Désiré Doué’s leg passes and hooks. »

While waiting to see and know what will become of the Parisian player with time, it is in any case a flattering portrait that Karim Bennani has drawn of him. The attacking midfielder still has to continue working to progress and who knows, maybe one day achieve the same performances as “Ney”.
